Alberta Ferretti is an Italian fashion designer known for her dress making designs that feature her unique twisting, tucking, and draping techniques. While Alberta Ferretti's designs are sold worldwide, her showroom is in Milan, Italy, and her studio is in the village of Cattolica, Italy.

Alberta Ferretti opened her first small boutique in Cattolica, Italy, in 1968 at the age of eighteen. In 1974, she designed her first complete collection, just six years later. By 1980, Alberta Ferretti had founded her eponymous label and debuted her ready-to-wear collection on the catwalk in Milan, Italy the following year. Ferretti extended her company beyond Italy and began an acquisition called "Aeffe U.S.A." in New York city. Shortly after her first international move, Alberta Ferretti began selling her "Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti" lines at Bergdorf Goodman. Next, she launched her first, American, free standing store in SoHo. This collection was exciting because it was a less expensive line and was intended for a group of younger women. No matter what line Alberta Ferretti creates, it always maintains her signature style and unique look.

Alberta Ferretti is known for coining the subtle layered look. One of her most famous combinations is pairing a hand beaded gauze and a wool dress. Ferrett'si most used fabrics are chiffon, draped georgette, luscious charmeuse, and silky satin. A majority of her designs are pretty cocktail dresses which make regular appearances on the red carpet. While Ferretti has become known for her airy and feminine designs, she is also famous for saying, "I can't see why women cannot look delicate and act tough." This theory can be seen through her designs when she mixes armor-like chain metal with rhinestone rosettes. One of her most popular and well known styles of dress is a high cut in the front and a lower, draping cut in the back. Many of her dresses are above the knee and are made for the younger, cocktail crowd.
